This Weekend

Fri - My friend James came from LA and crashed at our place. We played some poker and then sang some Karoake on Richard's Costco karoake mic. Mary won the poker game. I think all the guys lose a little face when she wins. But I'm ok with it since her winnings are my winnings. Also she learned Poker from me so of course she will be good right?? =) Richard's $75 karoake machine from Costco was pretty tight. I think I might have to get one of those. It's just a mic that plugs into the TV, but it's really good quality for what it is. Michael came by and so did Diana one of Mary's work friends.

Sat - Woke up at 7:30AM to go to Jae's graduation in Davis. Congrats Jae! 13 years in the making ;). Had lunch with Jae's family at East Buffet at the Hilltop Mall. Man Koreans love East Buffet!

We saw some people from our old church at Davis. It was good to see them, and less weird. I guess I'm finally over the awkwardness of that whole Berkland experience. But it's so funny whenever the old gang gets together, we spend most of our time talking about Berkland. I guess it's pretty normal. We all went through a pretty unique experience together.

Sun - Had early morning service and then joined the KM for our annual father's day picnic.

When we got home Mary gave me my Father's Day present. It was a boxed DVD set of some Korean drama called Hourglass? I said to her, "How is this a present for me?" She said to me earlier that I wasn't going to like it, so I said, "Why did you buy it for me then?" I felt kind of bad, but it really wasn't a present for me. I don't like it when Mary and her mom watch Korean dramas. For one they are so long and two some of the shows are pretty stupid. They are watching one right now of some old grandma hookers in a dance troupe set in olden times. I guess I don't mind too much, but I'd rather be watching something else. I should watch it though, it will help my Korean improve, or so people say.

I am a hard person to buy presents for though, because I don't want anything and whenever people go out and get something for me they think I'll like, I usually don't. My thinking is I'm a grown man, if I really wanted something, I would already own it. But in general I'm not a big consumer. I hardly ever buy anything. I guess it's just a habit because I've never had any money till now. Throughout my childhood I was poor, college I barely scraped by, and even post college I lived paycheck to paycheck. I never bought anything that wasn't a necessity. Some of my friends accumulate huge credit card debts buying stuff when they don't have the money to pay for it and that is something I never understood.

But thank you wifey for my gift and I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. She did say that she would get me an aquarium later. =) Oh yeah those are the two purchases I want to make in the near future, an aquarium and a gas grill. For me I think it's just easier to buy something for someone that they want, instead of trying to figure out what they want and have it get returned. Usually that's what I do for Mary. Yeah I guess there is no thought in it, but I prefer it.
