Christian is getting better at the drums

He plays mostly at home with the chopsticks and a make shift drum set consisting of a tissue box, empty plastic containers and random dishes.  But we should really think about investing in a little drum set for him.  Maybe we could keep it in the garage.

Here he is playing along with the band.

It Is Well

When peace like a river, attendeth my way;
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.

There is nothing like a good hymn. Churches these days don't sing hymns enough I think.

The hymn above is one of my favorites. It was written by Horatio Spafford in the late 1800's. He was a lawyer who endured more tragedy than a man should in one's life. His wife and 4 daughters were traveling to Europe by ship and while crossing the Atlantic, the ship collided with another ship and sank. His wife survived but all 4 of his daughters died. Shortly afterwards, as Spafford traveled to meet his grieving wife, he was inspired to write these words as his ship passed near where his daughters had died.

Happiness is a Choice

Be positive, Negativity breeds, Nobody likes to be around a negative person, Always focus on the postives first!

Who can I think of today and send out a prayer for?

These are contant reminders that pop up on my Outlook everyday. Why? Because I used to be so negative and negativity is a disease. And the other one, because I'm a selfish bastard who only thinks of myself 99% of the time.

I've been blessed. God has been really good to me in the area of joy. I am so happy these days and have been for awhile. I can say truthfully that I am the happiest that I have ever been in my entire life. I thank my beautiful, intelligent, and strong wife for this as well as my adorable, hilarious, and easy to take care of son.

But I give most of the credit to God whom I have been getting closer to this past year, who has been so faithful.

2 Peter says this:

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is a formula for bringing the presence of God into your life. Which in essence is the formula for happiness. It doesn't say you have to be perfect. It says "in increasing measure", that means you start where you're at and keep getting better.

I think I want to make this my life verse. Maybe I will get it tattooed on my back. =)

I have been chewing on this verse for over a month now and I love it. God has been helping me these past several months in areas such as drunkeness, patience, and tolerance. He has helped me to make a decision every day to be more positive and joyful. Somebody at work actually said that I am a bringer of joy and that there should be more people like me at work.

Me, Jin Choi, a man who used to walk around with a cloud over his head. A man when he entered a room used to bring the atmosphere down.

Happiness is a choice.

Chuck Swindoll says this:

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, or a home. The remarkable thing is that we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. Nor can we change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We also cannot change the inevitable. The only thing that we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you—we are in charge of our attitudes.

Chew on that.
